Aleksander Foltański był hutmistrzem i kasjerem warsztatów mechanicznych fabryki w Białogonie. Prawdopodobnie uczestniczył w spisku przygotowywanym przez księdza Piotra Ściegiennego, dla którego organizował produkcję broni i wynosił pieniądze z fabrycznej kasy. Gdy spisek wykryto, obawiając się rosyjskich represji popełnił samobójstwo na Górze Kolejowej w styczniu 1846 roku. Według ustnych przekazów został pochowany, tam gdzie go znaleziono. Nagrobek zachował się do dziś.
