Description
At the beginning there was Prussian traverse. But after some years, his territory was turned into an airport, which was finished in 1919, at the beginning as a military airport. Due to courtly tract this part of Gdansk was demilitarized, remodeled and airport became civilian and in this form devolved to Gdansk. The ceremonial opening of new airport was 18 June 1923. Airport prospered well and became important and international. During World War 2 airport was used by German Luftwaffe, and became target of Ally bombing. After war it was rebuild and remained civilian airport. It was finally closed in 1974. At this place communistic government build blocs, and in this form it remained to present days.
